Our Story

We’re a young family living in Sydney, Australia, and when our daughter was born in 2025, we quickly discovered just how much of family life revolves around mealtimes. As she grew and we eventually introduced her to solid foods, we loved watching her discover new tastes, make funny faces and become more involved in family meals.

But there was one part of mealtimes we didn’t love quite so much.

Grubby highchair straps.

Like all highchairs, ours came with fabric straps. Before long, they were covered in food, milk and all the other mess that comes with feeding a little one. We found ourselves constantly removing the straps, washing them and putting them back on, just to feel confident that they are safe for our daughter.

And eventually, we asked ourselves:

“Why aren’t these just made out of silicone?”

So we started looking.

We searched for a replacement harness that was easy to clean, practical, comfortable and looked good on the highchair. But we couldn't find anything that really ticked all the boxes. The options we found were often difficult to use, didn't fit our aesthetic or just way too expensive.

So we decided to try to make them ourselves.

What started as a simple idea quickly became a much bigger project.

We worked with manufacturers to develop and refine Silli Straps, going through countless prototypes, testing different materials and designs, and spending plenty of late nights trying to get every detail right.

We didn't want to create something that was simply good enough. We wanted to create something that we would genuinely choose for our own daughter.

Once we had a design we were proud of, we wanted to know what other parents thought. So we put Silli Straps into the hands of more than 100 Australian families, asking them to use them through real mealtimes and give us their honest feedback.

Their experiences helped us test, improve and refine Silli Straps even further. The support and enthusiasm we received gave us the confidence to take the final step and share them with other families.

We know how quickly the early years go. The messy meals, the funny faces, the little milestones, they can feel endless when you're in the middle of them, but somehow they pass far too quickly.

We created Silli Straps because we don't think parents should spend those moments worrying about grubby highchair straps.

Mealtimes should be about your little one, not about cleaning the highchair.

Our goal is simple: to make one small part of everyday family life easier, so you can spend less time worrying about the mess and more time enjoying the moments you'll wish you could keep forever.
